Getting to Know Your International Contacts-Part 3

Getting to Know Your International Contacts-Part 3

Over the past seven weeks learned a lot of new and interesting thing about international early childhood  education.  This week learned about the children in Africa  and the early childhood care and education. " The first eight years of child's life are decisive for human  development . Yet statistics on early childhood in Africa  are appalling.
  • Less than 12% African children currently have access to Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE) services
  • 12,000 African  children die every day under conditions that could been avoided-the equivalent of a Boeing 747 crashing every hour
  • Of  the 76 % of children entering primary school each year,38% have experienced moderate or severe  malnutrition impacting on their psychomotor and cognitive development.

These ideas will help me with future goals is to become a advocate for children and families for quality center. I Also want work with politician   to  improving funding for  early childhood education. finally I want to become more involved  with issues the effect early childhood education.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts Parts2

Getting to Know Your International Contacts Parts2

I review the Harvard University website this weeks. I look over all the different program that the organization was involved. The first one the peak my interest was the Apply the Science of Early Childhood in Brazil.  The collaboration with Global Children Initiative and Nucleo Ciencia Pela Infancia and also partner with David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies.  The project is aim to use the science of child health and development to guide stronger policies and larger investment to benefits young children and their families in Brazil. Next I found and article on the Zambian Early Childhood Project this article was very interesting.  I learn that Zambian Project focus on anti –malaria initiative. I also learned that there is not cure for malaria.  In Zambia the leading cause of death is malaria and HIV is other cause of death in Zambia among children under five.( Gunther Fink, 2011).   Also there is no vacancies for malaria.  The Zambia project of anti-malaria initiative had a positive effect on children under five the mortally rate have drop to 30 percent. That good sign that project is working in Zambia.

After review this website I am interesting in finding out more information why there is not vacancies for malaria. I also interesting see how the partner with Brazil and the Global Children Initiative is working to better children and family in Brazil.
