I this point in my professional development is to continue focus on the children and families in my classroom. To find books that represent the children in my classroom.

I find that Zero to three as a good website.   Now Zero to Three have app called “Let’s play”. The app have activity for children from birth to five years old. The activity are   bed and bath time, meal time and commuting just name of few the activity.  I give parents the information on the app.

The zero to three is always current with issues in the early childhood field.

The one insight that I gain was the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Technical Assistance. Since some of co-worker go home visits every day. The information would be help for them.  I also gave me ideas to do on home visits with my parents.

Getting to Know Your International Contacts—Part 1

Getting to Know Your International Contacts—Part 1

I did hear back from Early Childhood Australia: The Australian Early Childhood Advocacy Organization. They send me ECA Web Watch that let search for topic on their website. This week the focus was on poverty.   I look up articles on poverty in Australia from this website. I found several article but the one caught my interest was the October of 2013 issue. In Australia they had a week the focus on poverty it called Anti-Poverty week. The Benevolent Society made report on the family of Australia. They that 15 percent of children in Australia live in jobless home. They talk about the effect of poverty on these children how it will effect mental and physical health development and they are behind the peer when they start school.  The report give ways to improve the poverty for these family which included: “providing free or low-cost pre-school provision to three-year-old children experiencing significant disadvantage to ameliorate some of the negative impacts of disadvantage; providing support to families experiencing disadvantage during the prenatal period to promote the optimal development of children; provide direct services to children and families that promote the quality of the environments in which young children spend their time to ensure that parents and other caregivers relate to children in ways that protect, nourish and promote their development and wellbeing; and build whole of community, place-based, ‘collective impact’ alliances to develop and deliver a comprehensive suite of interventions that target whole communities and address both the presenting and the background needs of vulnerable families”(Pro Bono Australia News 2013) .   The new insight that I got from this is that poverty is all over the world. I like the idea that Australia   to provide family with service that can help them get out of poverty.
