I this point in my professional development is to continue focus on the children and families in my classroom. To find books that represent the children in my classroom.

I find that Zero to three as a good website.   Now Zero to Three have app called “Let’s play”. The app have activity for children from birth to five years old. The activity are   bed and bath time, meal time and commuting just name of few the activity.  I give parents the information on the app.

The zero to three is always current with issues in the early childhood field.

The one insight that I gain was the Maternal, Infant, and Early Childhood Home Visiting Technical Assistance. Since some of co-worker go home visits every day. The information would be help for them.  I also gave me ideas to do on home visits with my parents.

  1. I do home visits with the children in my program every year. One suggestion is to always have someone with you. I take activities to do with the child while the director talks to the parents about the center and policies. I usually have several activities I do with the children to try to get some idea where the child is at developmentally. I have the child draw a picture and tell me about the picture. I have them cut on straight lines with kid scissors. I have the children build with blocks. We also count the blocks and talk about the colors of the blocks. I have the children write their name on their art work when they are finished. These activities give me a quick idea about the child and where they are developmentally in language, cognitive, and physical, and social emotional areas of development.

  2. I like that you share the zero to three app with your parents at your school. Not only are they getting the activities but it also gives them awareness about the website. Maybe they will explore it more to support their child's development but they will also view the work you do more seriously and see you as a professional.

  3. I am looking this up on my phone right now and will be downloading this app soon. I think that this is great that there are apps out their for them. I don't think (but is becoming more known) how important this age is for children to learn anything that they can. I just think that anything that can be helpful and gets kids mind thinking and learning is a great tool. Thanks for your inside and sharing the information.

  4. Raejean,
Thank you for sharing about the app. I will have to pass that information to my providers and families! I would also love to know more about the home visit technical assistance. I will check that out on the website. Does your community have a program called Parents as Teachers? That could be another resource to help your families in your community.
