Research Around the World

I decide to explored  the website of Early Childhood Australia in order to examine the research topic  in that part of the world. These are the topic I pick

1. Professional  partnership in children's services: Working together for children
2. Learning and teaching through play
3. Partnership: Working together in early childhood setting
4. Secure transition:  Supporting children to feel secure , confident and included

I gain new insight of the different topic  especially  the  spirituality  of the children. I found this topic very interesting I would learned more about this topic. The topic of spirituality is not talk about in mainstream childcare.  Also the research topics  in Australia are some of the same topic we are researching in the United States. It was good to see what the world research topic are and how the related to children around world.

  1. Raejean as you know, transition times are usually the most difficult and stressful parts of the day in child care. A group of children are being asked to shift from one activity to another, and move from one task to another in a relatively short period of time. This lends itself too much movement and for some children opportunity. Some children have a particularly difficult time and react to any kind of confusion, lack of structure and or chaos. Transitions are an integral part of the child care day. Well managed, they give children a sense of predictability and consistency so they can feel like they belong and that people enjoy them and know what is expected of them. In addition they know how there day will go because they can anticipate what is going to happen next. Transition makes things go so smooth.

  2. Reajean,
I also researched the website from Australia. I found it to be very helpful in relation to our profession as early childhood educators. You are correct; many of the topics explored are some of the same topics we discuss each day. I noticed you enjoyed the subject of children and spirituality. What specifically do you like about spirituality? I know we do not discuss this subject in our field, because there are so many diverse children and religions. I also realize that being spiritual does not necessarily mean you have to be a part of a religion; what do you think? This website has provided me with an abundance of resources; I hope you have learned some other things that you did not mention in your post. Have a great weekend.

  3. Reajean,
It was very interesting to find that many countries are involved in the same type of research as we are in the United States regarding young children. I really think it helps show us that children develop in the same ways from country to country.
Spirituality is a very touchy subject in public early childhood settings so I am sure it is difficult to find research regarding it. I feel most children are too young to really grasp the concept of spirituality. Do you agree?

  4. Reajean,

That is very interesting too on the topic of spirituality. I also find it interesting how different places around the world see and research children differently then we might do in the U.S. Sometimes I think we get so caught up in our own world and what's going on around us, that we don't stop and think about other places. How they deal or see children.

  5. Reajean,
I too pick this website to explore. I found the most interesting topic to be teaching children through play. I think that most parents and early childhood educators don't grasp the actually concept of learning through play. Although the children are given the freedom to play and explore on their own a lot of this play can be structured based on a certain topic for instance if the teacher is discussing nature for the week the children can do all sorts of pretend play outside as well as explore the outdoors for specific items. This for them is fun but they are also gaining knowledge along the way.

  6. Hello Reajean,
It is interesting as well a a great feeling to know that other countries are researching and have the same beliefs as we have in the United States! children are our future and as we all partner, grow, learn and teach our children the same important values, and beliefs this world will be a better place! Thanks for sharing.
