Exploring
Roles in the ECE Community: Local and State Levels
One local organization that caught my attending was Maternity Care Coalition. “Through the MOMobile program, pregnant women, new parents, and their families receive critical support, education, and access to resources.” (maternitycarecoalition.org. 2015) As I explore this site I found that connect with my community of practice their mission statement strengthening and empower families’ one baby at time. The site have many job opportunities in that support families
Next local organization I explore The Children’s
Hospital Of Children Early Head Start Program. The program service weekly home visits
with hands-on child development activities .Parent-child focused

The final organization Office
of Child Development and Early Learning (OCDEL) is focused on creating
opportunities for the Commonwealth's youngest children to develop and learn to
their fullest potential. By developing an effective early childhood education
system with high standards for programs and
professionals, supports to meet these standards, accountability and community
engagement, OCDEL is helping our children, families, teachers and communities
reach their promise. Parents, schools, child care providers (OCDEL 2015)
The job opportunities at Maternity Care Coalition are the following teacher, and family advocate the job the appeal to me was a “Momobile advocate’s work with families in their own homes: families are nurtured and empowered to sustain healthy lifestyles. Hi Raejean,
ReplyDeleteYou found some great organizations that could have representatives become part of your community of practice. I was especially drawn to the Maternity Care Coalition as they provide education to excepting moms as well as supporting parents early on after the birth of the child. I have a strong belief about providing preventative and early intervention services as soon as possible. What a great resource for you.
Hi Raejean
ReplyDeleteYou came up with some interesting organizations this week. I am especially captivated by the Maternity Care Coalition. I believe that families need to be supported and empowered to meet the needs of their children and this organisation does that. Such an organization would be ideal for my community as quite a number of our children are off-springs of young parents. This organization would be a great resource in helping them cater to the needs of their children and to foster their fullest potential.
When I was looking at agencies that support ECE and participate in many CoP I actually found a job listing at two of them that are grant funded by the same program. I am actually thinking that I might apply for them...this is a scary next step, but it would be a great opportunity to improve my families finances.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your organizations. TheMaternity Care Coalition is almost like the WIC (Women Infant & Children ) program that I am familiar with in SC. It is imporant to educate women and families on the value of proper pre-natal and post-natal care. The best education begins early in order for the progression to continue. A healthy and educated parent is more than likely willing to raise a healthy and knowledgable child.
ReplyDeleteRaejean,
ReplyDeleteI am not familiar with any of the organizations your mentioned; however, MoMobile and the Office of Child Development and Early learning caught my attention. I think it is great there is an organization that helps women who are pregnant and new parents find resources to help their families. In my experience, the only organization that I know that assist families is WIC, and it is for mothers, infants, and children. This organization helps to nourish mothers during pregnancy and it continues to nourish children and babies when they arrive. Although MOMobile’s mission aligns with your goals, how is this organization a COP for you? I enjoyed reading your post.

Hi Raejean,
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing. I believe the organizations you have chosen are great as all of them work to support the healthy development of young children. I really like that this course is giving us a lot of opportunities to explore what is existing in the field and how we can find new and various paths to improve.
