My Family culture
A description of three items you would choose
My music collection
My family Photos
How you would explain to others what each of these items means to you
In my music collection I have over 5000 cd . My music collection is my escape from world.
My Try God Necklace is piece of jewelry that my mother gave me . It remind me of her love for me.
My family photos are picture of my family member that are important to me.
My feels for give up two items upon arrival is easy I would let go my music collection and family photo. My music collection can be replace. My family photo can be replace in my memory . I like to remember people the way they were. The one items that I am keeping is my Try God Necklace because it is what keep me going though the day.
The insight I gain my doing this assignment was that I learn how my parents feel when the came to this country and left everything behind to come here. For example I had a parent who left her daughter in Ecuador with mom . She had not seen her daughter since she left to come America . I had a lot of parents that left family member in their country. So do go back and see them but most of the do not . This experience got me to think about having to come to new place with nothing and not knowing any body and try to make.
Raejean, I as well chose the family album, the only difference is that I kept it as my only item at the arrival because I believe it will be difficult to keep my family members’ faces for a long period of time. I am one of those people that cannot easily describe a person features not even mine is somebody ask me to do it. I can remember you if I look at you in front of my or in a picture, but to describe you are really difficult for me.
ReplyDeleteThat is a beautiful necklace, I figure you would choose that one; I wear a pair of earrings that my mother gave me on my fifteen birthday, that is the version of turning 16 in the Hispanic culture. I as well love to listen to music; I do not have as much as you but have a lot of them in my memory because my grandparents and mother used to listen to music all day long and I grew up loving music as well.
Great post!!!
ReplyDeleteYou chose some great items that would be impossible to give up. I did not think to choose my collection of cd's that I have collected over the years. I have music from way back when my grandparents were children. I love all types of music; rhythm & blues, country, pop, some rap, gospel, jazz, and much more. I have grown to love all types of music. I think when we experience diverse music, we have a better idea of the definition of music. We should not limit ourselves to one or two types of music. We should experience all types.
Music can be very helpful to pick up your mood when we are feeling down. I too chose my Christian music. I also chose my bible and my computer. I agree with you that it would be hard to start all over in a different place from scratch. If you had to do this and had a choice in where to move, where would you choose?
ReplyDeleteI find music to be a source of relaxation and a way of keeping me a ease with the situation. Starting over in another country and not knowing anyone can be very difficult for some. At the same time it will give you the opportunity to get to develop new friends and have a extended family that you can learn from.
