Considering Your Capacity

Considering Your Capacity

Which issues impacting young children and their families and/or the field of early childhood fuel your passion?

The issues that impact me and fuel my passion are the following:

·         Quality childcare for all

·         Teacher’s salary

·         Programs that support children and families.

I believe that all children should have the opportunity to go a quality center. I think teacher salary need to increase across the nation.  Finally, I believe that there need to more programs that support the whole without income guild line.

What resources do you have at your disposal that can benefit your advocacy work?

The resource that I have at my disposal are flyers of different programs the support family. For example, like parenting class and free health screen for families.  Also, the different website of the quality childcare center in the community. For teachers have list training that help the increase their salary. Also list more that are campaigning for increase teacher’s salary.

In what ways do you hope to grow in order to be a more effective advocate?

I hope to gain more knowledge about advocacy so that I can advocate more for those issue close to my heart. Also, working with different advocates and learning from them on how to work with the families and the community leaders the will give me more experience.

  1. I believe we as ECE professionals want to advocate for all the teachers in the field about salaries. With my experience I believe owners view all their teachers salaries based on education. After a teacher is hired their work performance determines if the increase in pay would be approved or not. Its sad that I know teachers who are receiving minimum wage. Once completing this program Walden, I believe we all would have a better comprehension of effective advocacy.

  2. I think a fair wage is something that is important for ECE professionals, then children and families will receive quality care. The quality care will detail children receiving healthy and safe care, all developmentall needs meet. Then as quality providers we will see and meet the needs of the families.

  3. As classmates working toward a degree in advocacy in the ECE field, we are thinking alike wanting to change wages for professionals and quality care for children in our states is a huge issue we all have in common. The issues that keep rising up in regards to wages, quality care, and programs that support children and families are driving our passion. I feel change coming soon ladies!
